In Imperial Struggle, the map displays four Regions, with two of them being further subdivided by white lines into sub-Regions:

  • Europe
  • North America
    • Northern Colonies (located south of the dividing line and includes areas like Northern Colonies and Champlain Valley)
    • Canada (located north and east of the dividing line and includes areas like Quebec & Montreal and Acadia)
  • Caribbean
  • India
    • Carnatic Coast (located south of the dividing line and includes areas like Madras and Pondicherry)
    • Hooghly River (located north of the dividing line and includes areas like Hooghly River and Calcutta)

These sub-Regions impact the scope of certain Events, Advantages, and the spoils of war. The map features a Navy Box for holding Squadrons for both sides, a General Records Track for tracking VP (Victory Points) and Debt, and a Turn Track. Within the four Regions, there are five distinct types of spaces: Political, Market, Territory, Naval, and Forts.
