Board Games Wiki

Expeditions is a tile-exploration board game for 1-5 players, designed by Jamey Stegmaier and published by Stonemaier Games. Players play as heroes exploring Siberia after a meteorite crash near the Tunguska River, with the goal of finding artifacts, overcoming challenges, and ultimately achieving glory. The game is a competitive, card-driven, engine-building game, where players play cards to gain power, guile, and unique worker abilities, move their mech to various locations to gain cards, and use workers, items, meteorites, and quests to enhance their mech. The game takes 60-90 minutes to play and is recommended for ages 14+.

Prepare for a 2-player game following the standard setup procedures, excluding the setup steps related to Automa's player components. After completing this setup, follow these instructions:

  1. Position 1 mech on the westernmost North location to represent Automa's North mech. It is advisable to use the blue base snap to match the color indicated on the decision cards.
  2. Position 1 mech on the easternmost Central location to represent Automa's Central mech. We recommend using the black base snap for this placement.
  3. Select a difficulty level by placing its corresponding progress card on the table. For your initial play, we suggest "Level 2."
  4. Place an unused action token on the starting space of the progress track on the progress card. This token will be referred to as the progress token.
  5. Shuffle the decision cards, set 2 of them aside without looking at their contents, and place the remaining cards face down to form the decision deck.
  6. Set the glory card next to the decision deck and position 4 glory tokens of one color and 4 of another color on spaces 1 to 8. It is important to note that Automa receives 8 glory tokens, unlike the 4 you receive.

To determine the first player, select randomly.
